June,4,1992 will remain in history and memory of the people as a birthday of the State Emblem of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Today’s Arms of sovereign Kazakhstan is a result of huge work, creative search of two known architects: Zhandarbek Malibekov and Shoty Ualikhanov. That contest was hard to win. It would be enough to mention, that about 245 projects and 67 description designs of the future arms took part in the final competition.
The arms has the form of a circle. In the world the most perfect shape considered to be the shape of a sphere. And the circle as an element closest to this perfection is especially appreciated by the nomads. The circle as an element of heraldry is used everywhere, but it is treated with special honour and respect among oriental nomads. It is a symbol of a life, eternity.
The central element which has incorporated the basic idea of our Arms is shanyrak – circular domed roof of a yurta (Kazakh national portable house). Shanyrak - is a symbol of family well-being, peace, calmness. Masterfully, effectively and beautifully represented tundyk – is a window to the sky, which looks like a bright sun. Dome poles - uyk, evenly coming from the center on blue space of the Arms, resemble beams of the sun - source of a life and warmth. The authors managed to solve a problem of the kerege’s picture - sliding trellised bases of yurta. Crosswise, threefold kuldreushes of shanyrak symbolize unity of all three zhuzes (regional community tribes) providing thus its durability. In this way the authors reflect peaceful essence of the Kazakh by using language of heraldry calling the peoples of the republic to stand under the common shanyrak, aspiring to turn into strong powerful bearing structures of our common house - Kazakhstan.
The following component of composite structure of the Emblem are gold-winged with horns in the form of crescent, fantastic racers - tulpars. Though the image of argamaks (horses) in the state symbolics has old history, nevertheless the given variant by the authors caused big discussions and disputes before it has been accepted. The silhouette of racers in heraldry language has deep sense and content. It means: fearlessness of a lion, insight of a falcon, physical power and force of a bull, speed and plastic of a fallow deer, cunning and resource of a fox in struggle against enemies. Gold wings of racers resemble also sheaves of a grain, gold ears, i.e. an attribute of work, abundance and material welfare
In the center of the Emblem there is a five-pointed star. In the project a crescent and three small stars have been located there. In course of discussion variants of eight- pointed, seven- pointed, five-pointed stars were offered. The last variant was chosen. Our heart and embraces are opened to representatives of all five continents.
The color scale of the Emblem is made up of two primary colours - golden and blue. The first corresponds to the light, clear future of our people. The blue sky is one for all nations of the world. Its color in our Emblem personifies aspiration of Kazakhstan to the world, consent, friendship and unity with all peoples of the planet.
National Flag of the Republic of Kazakhstan
The National Flag of the Republic of Kazakhstan looks as a rectangular breadth of blue colour with the sun in its center surrounded by 32 rays, and a steppe eagle soaring beneath. Near hoist is a vertical strip with a national ornament. Images of the sun, beams, eagle and ornament - are all gold coloured. The width of the Flag to its length: 1:2.
